Thai Yoga BodyworkI offer sessions in Traditional Thai Bodywork at my office in Fremont. Traditional Thai Bodywork is a holistic, meditative, and interactive style of bodywork. Sometimes referred to as 'assisted yoga' or 'Thai Yoga Massage', it work incorporates elements of yoga, stretching, breathing, acupressure, and rhythmic compression. It is deeply relaxing and grounding, yet also energizing and balancing. Think of it as a massage that is deeper, more therapeutically oriented, with the intention to increase your body's blood circulation, nervous system regulation, lymphatic flow, and its generalized ability to heal itself.
I have trained extensively in Chiang Mai, Thailand at Sunshine Massage School receiving traditional and deep instruction in the art and practice of Thai bodywork. Chiang Mai, in the north of Thailand, is where the spirit and wisdom of this practice can still be found. Here, I received instruction from numerous skilled and loving teachers to whom I am ever indebted - they include Dot Po, Suriyan Punyafoo, and Aom Pikul. In addition, I have trained with with Eric Spivack, a highly skilled teacher here in Seattle, as well as Nephyr Jacobson with the Naga Center in Portland, Or. All of my teachers have very different approaches and skills to the work, but collectively, each has helped me form a broad lens to support my clients. Recipients are instructed to wear loose fitting and relaxing clothing as this type of work in done on a mat on the floor. Session rates are $40 per hour In order to get as full a treatment as possible, I recommend 1.5 - 2 hours, however, hour long treatments are available. Please contact me for scheduling and questions, suggesting a few days and times you are available. - Mike |
